Big Hearts
04:34
|
|||
Heaven knows I'd wait to feel another breeze,
To lie beneath another sun;
Deep down in your love.
Big Hearts are filling up the hemispheres.
Big Hearts are warming up the coldest years.
They'll lie beside me forever more
Because Big Hearts make mine grow.
It's growing everyday
And softly resting miles away.
I swear Heaven was exploding there-
It was filling up the air.
Big Hearts are filling up the hemispheres.
Big Hearts are warming up the coldest years.
They'll lie beside me forever more
Because Big Hearts make mine grow.
Big Hearts are full moons and Northern Lights.
They come full circle- they defy science.
Big Hearts are freight trains that push me along
They hold onto the tracks even when the wind is strong.
Big Hearts are factories of Godlight Beams
That just get brighter as the daylight completely recedes.

Cellophane
03:35
|
|||
From the tops of mountains
We collide with clouds above the sea
And down below they disappear
(But I'm not convinced they were ever there)
Cause the water looked like cellophane,
Reflecting stars back into space,
And your eyes look that way to me.
Where we are, the hills are green
And elegant as anything we've seen
And Pontius and Pilatus lay beneath the waves
Of their water graves and
The water looked like cellophane,
Reflecting stars back into space,
And your eyes look that way to me.
So, where we are, the hills are green
But the white in your eyes is all I see
Because it seems the world is a perfect sphere
And that all things beautiful are gathered here
And the water looked like cellophane,
Reflecting stars back into space
And your eyes look that way to me.
Ah, look there, see that gleam?
It's the sun and your eyes the beam.
All out streams rise off your face-
All I see is all your lace.

Better Be Us All
03:30
|
|||
An interesting man I know
Has the Music in his bones.
He writes the songs
But he can’t stand rock n' roll.
His name is On His Right Hand
As he hides behind a wall
-Somebody's gonna make it but you know it better be us all.
Older brother,
He’s the dreamer of some dreams-
He stretched out the gray and made it green.
I can see myself in him
(I'm just a little bit too small).
Somebody's gonna make it but you know it better be us all.
Little brother,
You are not the only one-
Just don't get burned in the Oklahoma sun.
You're trying to get to heaven and
I'm just trying not to fall.
Somebody's gonna make it but you know it better be us all.
I'm a music maker
Trying to make a dream
But getting there is as endless as it seems.
So, I’m gone to California
(Even if I have to crawl)
Because somebody's gonna make it but you know it better be us all.
So, when I get to California,
I'll be giving you a call
Because somebody's gonna make it,
But you know it better be us all.

Whistle Stop
03:05
|
|||
It's the end of the line-
Your train rolled through the time
And now all your Graces
And your Legacies stand.
Don't whisper softly the things
That you want loudly to be
-Be like a wave.
-Leave impressions on the sand.
Because that whistle stop is coming strong
And big machines are hard to stop.
So, I'll leave behind use to be's
And in that horizon, we'll leave to the dirt roads
Regret and Disdain.
Every sun is going to fade
But in the morning rays
I hear a songbird singing your name.
Where it stops I can't say
But those warm summer days
Roll by like cars on a train.
And people everywhere are looking back,
Crying on their hands
And on their knees
Because it's the end of the line.
Your train rolled through the time
So I'll say goodbye to the people you know.
Don't whisper softly the things
That you want loudly to be-
Oh my, how your legacy glows!
That whistle stop is coming strong-
It shows no signs of slowing down for this town.
That whistle stop is coming strong
And big machines are hard to stop.

Paper Plane
02:28
|
|||
Fold me up like a paper plane
That you never want to come back.
She believes in something unfortunate-
I believe in that.
Ruin me like a paper plane
That somehow refuses to fly.
All my wings are bent and broken
And I'll never make it to the other side.
Forgive me,
Forgive me,
But I'm the only paper plane I know
And it's hard not to let it show.
So, I'm trying to get up the nerve to leave
Cause my apartment won't let me sleep-
It's breaking down like you and me
And it's hurting everywhere I bleed
And my heart aches inside of me
And it's hard not to let it show
(That I'm the only paper plane I know).

Come Around
03:09
|
|||
I hope some day,
In a better time and place,
That someone in your life
Will lift you up.
I hope someday,
In the sunlight's softest rays,
That you will glide your way
Back through this town
And I hope someday you come around.
I hope some day,
On this side of the waves,
That you will say
This is the perfect place.
And I hope some day,
Before you fully go away,
That you will find some
Patience in the Proud
And I hope someday you come around.
Everywhere I go,
I know I've been going about it all wrong.
It's in the palm of her hand-
It's the promise land-
But everywhere I stand
It feels like the sunlight
Is falling down on another.
I hope someday
You'll slow down enough to say,
You're all I think about-
Cause you're all I think about.
I hope someday,
By some Amazing Grace
That all this time spent spinning will slow down
And I hope someday you come around.

Popo Agie
03:22
|
|||
I can feel the Lander wind
Coming up beneath me again.
But to the north there's millionaires
That lay between the billionaires
And their buildings stretch to touch the sky
In the bigger world on the other side of the middle
... of Popo Agie.
Running down the crooked miles,
I could feel the muscles tire
And I could bend my tongue and sing the words of Pioneers
(They're coming up between my teeth).
All at once their melodies turn to fields of industry
And the California air is black
So, the movie stars are moving back to the middle
... to Popo Agie
These are places- Western spaces
And I go back there just to taste it.
To feel a warm night mixed with fireflies and I--
I can feel the Lander wind coming up beneath me again.
But to the north there's billionaires
That are speckled between the millionaires
And their buildings stretch to touch the sky
In the bigger world on the other side of the middle.
It's just a little river,
But it's clean as all hell
... Oh, Popo Agie.

Getting Old
03:42
|
|||
Gone are the days
Of the careless running 'round
And I'm feeling older now
With each sun that goes down.
Bring back the days when our hearts were bold
Cause now it seems (these days)
We are getting old.
We are getting old
But we ain't half way yet-
We've got good days left
Before we're truly getting old.
Sorry Darlin' there is a whole world to burn-
Look to the West you might see it in the sky.
Last I saw, her eyes had turned cold
And last I kissed her lip we were getting old.
We are getting old
But we ain't half way yet-
We've got good days left
Before we're truly getting old.
Bring back the days when our hearts were bold
Cause now it seems, these days, we are getting old.

Separate Things
05:37
|
|||
The trees have gone
But they've graciously left their leaves
In piles on the ground.
These are the coldest days (with the coldest breeze)
That I have ever found
But still I feel fine...
Cause I've found the sun still shines without you here
(Though it's missing the brightest piece).
Usually, there is something in Silence that I fear
But I don't miss you in the least-
In fact, I feel fine and it might be just what I need.
She came to talk about Love.
She came to talk about this want to combine-
One last time-
Before we melt into separate things.
So much of our love is dissonant;
Detracts from the beauty in life.
So, I'll try to write a silver lined song
With a melody that's nice
Just to make me feel fine and believe
This might be just what I need.
She came to talk about Love.
She came to talk about this want to combine-
One last time-
Before we melt into separate things.
Believe me.
Believe me, I'm trusting my head
Because to live by the Heart is to die.
She came to talk about Love!
She came to talk about this want to combine
One last time...

The Bus
01:13
|

On the bus,
I'm in love with the city lights,
As they lie there,
Thin on the horizon.

Feeling the Sun
03:56
|
|||
How am I suppose to love you
When I never even thought of myself that way?
I am a fine line...
But getting bolder everyday.
But, if you smile at me any longer
I don't think I'll have the nerve to fade away
Cause it's been so damn long
Since something beautiful this way come.
I have been feeling the sun-
Warm on my shoulders it comes.
I must believe that we've found a hole in the clouds...
Feel it now?
Collecting little pieces of fact
And I'm writing my guesses down-
No answers-
Just theories we entertain.
So, tell me why every time you come around
Something's got me feeling half as gray,
With twice the light
That could amount from any sun ray.
I have been feeling the sun-
Warm on my shoulders it comes.
I must believe that we've found a hole in the clouds...
Feel it now?

Fingertip
03:21
|
|||
It's my fingertip confession
That I'm too tired to play.
The thoughts were slowly coming,
Then they slowly went away.
Though gone, no less impressive,
But all too much the same;
I was thinking of you
And how you slowly went away.
So how does it feel my love?
How does it feel being on my mind?
So, my fingertip confessions
Will always stay the same;
I'll be thinking of you-
I'll be singing for you
Until Song goes away.

Babysitting the Cowboy
03:28
|
|||
My memories are a series of backyard cul-de-sacs
That smell of fresh cut grass and juniper.
Wyoming sunsets burned and
Crickets sang their hearts as the sky turned orange
And mother called us in from the day.
In one particular backyard
Sat a stagnant John Deer tractor that remained
Green all year round
As it rested quietly in the shade
Of the Bellevue Alley shrubbery
(No more than ten feet from the fence line).
A younger Me could turn the ruins of
Once Great Machines into a dream.
This useless tractor was fully functional
In the eyes of a younger me-
Those eyes saw fearlessly a cowboy
With buckles and leather and mouths to feed
And dried up fields that desperately
Need a farmer's touch.
A younger Me could go and do great things in the shade,
While the rest of the yard was green-
How it glistened in the sunlight.
Lisa. Please watch over me;
Write it down in your memory that I-
I was a child lost in a daydream.
She would say Only boring people get bored.
So, today I'll be plowing a field and
Corralling cattle before the dust storm.
Disintegrating are the chances for our lunch break-
There is too much work to be done today and
The cattle won't milk themselves.

Carry On
02:46
|
|||
Now that you're here,
I can actually feel the world spin beneath my feet.
Girl, if you believe in love,
Why won't you believe in me?
You came into town like you're not slowing down
And I'll have to find a safe place for my heart
Because I believe when someday comes
That someday will break us apart
And I'll just carry on.
There in the bar, you lit like a spark
But your smile will always burn like a flame.
You burned all the way through the midnight hour
And now all the sweetest ashes remain.
I'll carry on.
I could tell it was time
When all of the neon signs went dim
And left my heart on my sleeve.
I just can't help but think:
If you believe in love
Why won't you believe in me?
I will go, carry on.
